Frequently asked Questions

Q. What are the ingredients in your nut butters?

A.
They are almost in all cases just the nut that the name says. Almond butter is just almonds. In our case, it’s dry roasted almonds. Hazelnut butter is just hazelnuts, (dry roasted again). Our Macadamia butter is just raw macadamias. we also carry a dry roasted version. Our Pecan butter is just raw pecans. It will say if they are raw or roasted on the ready to order page.
Our natural almond butter is grown conventionally and has no preservatives, additives, salts or sugars. Our organics are from nuts raised to the highest organic standards, and do not have additives, etc. as well. We are currently not organic USDA certified, but the nuts we buy & use for our organic nut butters all are. Futters Nut Butters are not a mix of any other nuts unless the name says it is, such as Almond Haze™. Almond Haze is almonds and hazelnuts. There aren’t any fillers that are purposely misleading or cheapen the product.
We do have some “designer butters”. We have a CinnFul Pecan. That is a pecan butter with a slight cinnamon spice mix offered in both natural and organic. Our CinnFul Pecan MIX offered in our natural line is the same but because it has some roasted natural cashews in it, it is a bit mellower & better for shipping in hot weather.

Q. What about the chocolate in your chocolate nut butters?

A. Our chocolate nut butters are made with dark chocolate, not milk chocolate. No dairy products are added to the chocolate. With almost all chocolate companies there is a caveat. They put on their labels that there may be traces of milk in the chocolate because they make it in the same facility as their milk chocolates.
Usually we use a chocolate liquor. That is just cocoa & cocoa butter- no other ingredients. It is not an alcohol like conventional “liquor”. It refers more to it’s consistency when heated. Occasionally we will have a chocolate that has a GMO free soy lecithin on the ingredient label. Soy lecithin is a common ingredient in chocolate. If you are allergic to soy lecithin, when ordering our chocolate nut butter, put in the comment box on the checkout page that you have this allergy. We will use our chocolate liquor only.

Q. What about peanut allergies?

A. We have a peanut free facility. It is gluten free and dairy free as well. It is all vegan. Our nuts are not salted and most are raw. A few of our nuts/seeds come in roasted already. Those are our natural sunflower and pumpkin seeds and our natural cashews. The sunflower seeds are usually roasted in sunflower oil, occasionally safflower. The cashews & pumpkin seeds are roasted mostly in canola oil. The roasted cashews come from a facility that also houses peanuts. They are not in the roasters with them, but they have a label that says they are from a facility with them. If you are allergic to peanuts, we would have you order our organic raw cashews/butter instead of our natural roasted cashew.
Our other nuts usually come from co-ops & farms/orchards that only raise that crop. Almonds are from almond orchards, hazelnuts from hazelnut orchards. Our pecan farmers only have pecans, etc. If there is a concern about purity and allergies, going with our organic line of nut butters is the best way to order.
If you are concerned beyond that, feel free to call us. We are sympathetic to those with food allergies, and make our butters with the minimum of ingredients. We always try to make everything as pure as possible to accommodate tastes and tolerances.

Q. Do you have unsweetened chocolate versions of your nut butters?

A. Yes, we have many versions of our chocolate varieties. Many of our customers are on yeast-free, candida, or weight loss diets. (or just don’t want any added sugars in their foods.) We do not add any sweeteners to them. Many food producers will say “sugarfree” on their labels and usually add artificial sugars, like Splenda®, or stevia or honey etc. We are not out to deceive our customers. We value our relationships and wouldn’t want anyone doing that to us.
Those customers who are used to dark chocolate find our sweetener free chocolates mellow because the natural properties of nuts smooth out the taste without sugar.

Q. Are your Cherry, Orange and Strawberry Almond butters sweetener free?

A. Yes. They are only flavored with natural flavor oils, such as valentia oranges in the case of the Orange Almond. There’s a nice punch to these without needing to add preserves, jellies etc. especially for those with sugar concerns like diabetics.
Currently, we are offering a Strawberry Almond butter with bits of strawberries in there as well. There isn’t enough to add calories to the portion of nut butter, but there is enough to add a spark of added taste. They are freeze dried so they take up very little appreciable space, but pack a lot of flavor considering they start out like “air”.
